Hitting the Plateau

I have to admit I am getting a little frustrated. I been weighing in between 140 and 141 for over a week and can’t seem to get below that! I have been careful about what foods I am eating and I have been walking, but I admit it hasn’t been the kind of walking that makes a person work up a good sweat. I think that is exactly what I need to do – kick it into high gear and work up a good sweat. The first 18 pounds came off so easily that I guess I got a little lazy and was hoping the rest would come easy like that. I should have known that it wouldn’t work that way. I always read articles in magazines that say the last 10 pounds are the hardest. So I was expecting it, but I was really hoping that I’d lose another 5-10 pounds before the really hard work began. : )

You're not coming up on your TOM, are you? My weight loss would always slow down/stop the week before, then within days after it started I'd drop a pound or two and then keep going... until the next month :)

I'm going to second Miriam. Every month, I'd hit a plateau right before TOM and every month, the scale would just DROP afterward and I'd be right back on my way to goal!

You can also switch up what you're eating a little. That busts through plateaus. When I'm losing weight, I tend to fall into my comfort foods. I eat the same breakfast, same lunch, same snack every single day because it worked for me so well. And then my metabolism gets used to it and I have to suddenly switch things up. Eat a higher point (I do Weight Watchers) breakfast with a lower point dinner for a week and then the scale starts moving again :)

Just some ideas! Don't give up :)

I think you guys have some great ideas. And I didn't think about the monthly thing - I don't think that's the problem but who knows!!
